Satay is seasoned and skewered meat cooked in a grill and it is one of the most delicious dishes of Indonesia. The usual way to cook it is by adding peanut sauce, which gives a perfect sweet flavour. It goes well with beef and specially with chicken.

Aside from the peanut sauce, meat tastes really well in combination with red chilies, coriander, tomatoes, brown sugar, ginger, onion, soy sauce and some other ingredients that conjugate the “acar” and that Sate Maranggi.

The experience of going to Sate Maranggi Cibungur is totally worth it because is not an ordinary restaurant. It’s an open area with a canopy roof and thousands of tables and benches. Every weekend people have to go there early to take a seat otherwise they will have to wait. There are many workers in charge of the huge grills while some others distribute the tables. You can even see how tones of tomatoes and other ingredients are ready to be served or poured into the pans.

After the feast what a better way to help our stomaches digest than going to a lake. Placed in Purwakarta and 40 minutes away driving from Sate Maranggi Cibungur there’s the Jatiluhur. The fee to get inside the natural reserved area is not really high and by the big lake you can nap, sail, play volleyball, read a book, toss the fresbee and any outdoor activity.
